/tools/dns-update is for the purpose of updating a public dns-server with my external IP right? I’m looking to update my internal dns server (powerdns auth) with ip and ipv6 addresses - forward and reverse.
If I’m correct and it is only for updating the router’s ip, are there any plans for implementing this?
It's very probable that the OP can make it work. And RouterOS allows the address parameter to be specified, which means it's not limited to the external IP address of the router, and custom IP address for the record can be supplied.
However unfortunately, this address parameter only allows IPv4 addresses. I just did a quick check and IPv6 is not accepted.
First, sorry to confuse the issue by mentioning powerDNS. As you point out, it should work with anything that implements update procedures per RFC2136. I’ve tested Powerdns-auth using nsupdate on Debian, so I think we can assume that’s not an issue.
I guess your second comment means I need to script it. As coding is definitely not my forte, I guess I’ll start with scripts on this site, which I’ll post in for other people’s benefit:
With regards to ipv6 I guess I’ll have to go back to my isc-dhcp-server docker container, which I have running on my hap-ac3. I got as far as making it hand out addresses ok, but then figured out getting ia-na working on the Mikrotik.
