I am interested in RB5009,but uncertain about ipsec hardware acceleration support.
I found nothing in the change log of stable release tree. But in 7.1rc3, it is mentioned that “hardware acceleration support for RB5009”.
So does RB5009 supports ipsec hardware acceleration?
at date there is no support
https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/IPsec#IPsec-Hardwareacceleration
maybe can be expected in the future but no news about it
i think SOC has support but is the first MikroTik Router with a Marvell SOC so it will take time for MikroTik to integrate support for this SOC
same happened with RB3011 for example
Thank you. looking foward for that ![]()
I remember ipsec hardware acceleration for rb5009 was added already, now it is gone?
The is nothing mentioned in change log now(including testing tree)
Really wish someone from MikroTik would put this question to bed. It’s been asked multiple times and no final answer has been given. The change log for 7.1.3 said ipsec acceleration was added. So why I keep seeing others say it isn’t? If the documentation doesn’t indicate it, that could be more of an issue with the documentation just not being updated rather than the feature missing.
I would go by this factoid…
No ipsec test results yet on product page.

That link https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/IPsec#IPsec-Hardwareacceleration
says that: https://mikrotik.com/products?filter&s=c&f=["ipsec"] is the list of accelerated devices.
A little bit confusing
Is MikroTik diligent about updating that kind of stuff or could it be a feature and they just haven’t conducted their tests and updated the page? I don’t have any agenda, just trying to understand how things generally work. Also confusing that they declared it was enabled with 7.1.3 if that’s not the case. Seems like a random thing for them to be like…..just kidding.

@chechito thanks for flagging that! So glad to finally see something to confirm IPSec is accelerated on the RB5009.
