Downgrade on RB 750GL 5.7 to 4.17 (FAIL)

Hello ALL! :smiley:

I tried to downgrade the RouterOS version of my RB750GL to the 4.17 stable and after that my RB become a unmanaged switch with all the port in the same vlan and no access to the RouterOS.


I tried all the possible ways to reset it but it didn´t work.

I need a official help about how to reinstall the routeros in it.

But netinstall depends of RouterOS funcionality? Or it works without RouterOS?

netinstall allows you to re-install for RB with no serial port.

Do you remember what level license when first bought? if V5.X you can’t downgrade them.

Yes man, it was 5.x
And I tried to downgrade to 4.17 (stable version)

Since I already did it, is there any chances to take it back to 5.7 ?

Yes. Use netinstall. It will work.

SOLVED:

It was two things.

  • First, after you press the reset button and turn on the RB, you need to wait the ACT led, it will blink until stop, then you can release the reset button.

  • Second, if you try to use Netinstall and for any reason it doesn’t work, try in another PC. (it is recommended to turn off the Windows Firewall and the Antivirus/Firewall.


    last tip: you don’t need to downgrade any RB at least mikrotik ask you to do. :laughing:

Board itself was produced after V4.17 was released, so board supports only 5.x version, forget about 4.17.

AFAIK, problem is with bootloader 2.3x. it doesn’t allow ROS 4.x . So u can’t degrade to ROS 4.x on factory built 5.x versions.
