I have a Mikrotik CRS328-24P4S+ cloud core switch. I have many PoE devices on it. So far was all good but today I have noticed that an unconnected port has an error: “ether6-poe-error detected poe-out status: voltage_on_poe-in”
I tried to reboot the switch with no luck. I have checked that the port pins are clean and dusted. “PoE Out” is set to “auto on”. If I choose “off” or “forced on” red error message disappear. I was not brave enough to connect anything on it after I noticed this error
I can confirm that I have the same problem but it appeared for me after updating to 7.19.6. I tried downgrading to 7.19.4, upgrading to 7.20 without solving the problem. Only one port is having problems: port 18. There is nothing connected to it.
This means the PoE-Out port has detected voltage on the port, which can happen in two cases:
External Power Source – Another device is supplying power to the port.
Internal Fault – The PoE-Out circuitry on the port may be damaged.
Recent RouterOS (PoE-Out firmware) updates improved PoE monitoring, so such conditions are now detected and reported — previously they could remain unnoticed if the port wasn’t in use.

I have exactly same problem with that same CRS328-24P-4S+ switch.

Nothing connected to that port.
Errors started when upgraded from 7.19.4 to 7.20.
7.20.1 and 7.21beta2 did not fix the issue.

Does this mean after a downgrade then upgrade again can fix the issue?
In the meanwhile, I noticed that I connected a UTP cable to my switch which had assamled incorrectly, meaning that my switch might come back unexpected voltages from the POE powered device. If this is the case I think my switch might detected this correctly but then the flag remained set even after the wrong cable is removed. I’m just speculating. I do not want to test this theory with another switch port
If the port reports “voltage_on_poe-in”, disabling PoE-Out alone is not enough. We recommend not using the port at all, as connecting any non-PD device can damage the equipment, and even for PD devices, overload or short-circuit conditions may not be reliably detected on this port, posing a risk to connected devices.
But I have two of this devices (CRS328-24P-4S+) and both have failing / in error ports. For me is very strange that both get broken on the same way, same port …
Is a production issue that was just “hidden” until now ?

Same issue on my CRS328-24P-4S+ on port 14, also was an unused port since buying the switch.
This warning was not showing until upgrading firmware to 7.21.2 (from 7.9.2). Downgrading back to 7.16 as @jotjot suggested made the error disappear, but POE still does not work on the port.
Upgrading back to 7.21.2, POE error returns and it seemingly works fine for non-POE devices but according to @inra should not be used at all since it can potentially damage devices?
These sound like manufacturing defects that were never discovered or addressed. Now I’m out of my warranty period with a defective switch.
I am seeing the same / similar error on a Netpower 16P (CRS318-16P-2S+) on a single port, with nothing connected to the port.
No other ports are throwing this error, and PoE-out seems to work fine otherwise (although I have not tried using this particular port, but I believe it worked in the past.)The switch is being powered through the “high-voltage” (30-57V) DC barrel jack.
I have the same issue with an CRS328-24P-4S+ on 4 random ports. POE ist notworking on those ports…on prior firmware the switch was working flawlessly - what is going on here?
