Whilst updating a Linux kernel to a newer version I notice the inclusion of a new patch called “Multipath cache algorithm support”. The original idea was proposed by Einar Lueck. Information about the feature can be found here:

This patch appears to have first surfaced in the Kernel update from v2.6.12-rc1 to v2.6.12-rc2:
