The current setup is working well but it is very hot because of the onu transceiver.
I am trying to find a way to do something to get around the heat issue.
The current setup is as follows.
ISP optical cable from the wall is connected to Huawei OptiXstar S800E - S800EXGS01 ONU
I have a CRS305-1G-4S+IN which is just doing nothing in the store. I made a wrong purchase.
I was thinking of inserting the ONU into CRS305(switch mode) then use SPF+ DAC cable into the other port and connect the the other end of the DAC cable to CCR2004(router)
ONU --> CRS305 --> CCR2004
This way the very hot ONU will be outside of CCR2004.
I’m inclined to think that leaving it in the CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe is the better plan. The CRS305 is passively cooled and is more likely to be affected by the hot ONU than the CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe, which has its own fan and inherits the active cooling of the host. What kind of output are you getting from /system/health on the CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe with the ONU plugged in? As long as it’s operating within the published operating range, you should be fine.
Do not remeber default setting but you have to reset it, add one bridge if there would be none and add all ports to that bridge. Done. Maybe you wouuld need to tailor STP settings but I doubt.
3° below is still below. Putting the ONU in the switch may work, but is more likely to overheat the CRS305 because the switch has no active cooling. Give it a try though. Make sure you don’t have VLAN filtering on if your connection to the ONU involves tagged frames.
