Hi guys
I am considering openning up my ftp server on my PC running RouterOS v3.10 to my entire wlan, is this safe?
I want to have a big harddrive (250gb or so) and then all my wifi clients can use the ftp server to share files etc.
Is there a way to limit the amount of storage space utilized by the ftp server?
thanks
Hi,
the integrated RouterOS FTP-Server is more for administrative tasks e.g. uploading RouterOS. This is a router and not a FTP-Server :-)) All I know no quotas are included. But quotas don’t make a FTP-Server safer.
I prefer to use RouterOS as router and separate application server for the needed appications.

Thanks for the reply…
But setting up a 2nd PC is such a mission lol…
What would happen if the router based ftp server was filled and there was 0% hhd space remaining? would the router crash?
thanks
Never tested, but I don’t belive that the router crash. But as you say: "… if the router based ftp server was filled… ". Yes, it’s a router, not a FTP-Server. You can test it in seconds.
Just take a second appliance and a full featured FTP-Server you like. Next one want’s to install a SMTP-Server or -Relay on the router and so on and so on. Sorry, that makes no sence - because it’s a router. Or with the new VM posibilities in next version, run a VM on a router, if you want to have it all in one box.
I never think a second about such constructs!
