I would love for there to be a way to exclude B mode but keep G and N mode without having to set custom rates.
btw, in RouterOS if signal levels are ok and there are no “b” clients, these b rates will be ignored completely (expect some special cases) So i am not sure that there is any benefit of having such mode.
We have thousands of RB751 devices installed to cover end users in buildings. There are many occasions where even if their signal is good they operated in B mode.
Not to compare MikroTik to Belair, but Belair has a mode to disallow B, so obviously there is some merit to the idea.
I have use the data rate selection for years on Mikrotik to lock out unwanted rates, you can lock out all the B rates.
request was to set band, that would disallow B rates, currently only by deselecting allowed rates you can disable B if you want to use G and N.
However there has been new development that you can select advanced rate selection and as a result AP will try to be more aggressive regarding rate selection and go for highest rate possible.
you can do that this way:
interface wireless set wlan1 rate-selection=advanced
