Garbled text on serial console

Hi All

I logged into console today on my CCR1036 on v6.24 and found the characters are all messed up:

Example:

▒9999B[▒m▒36madmin▒m@▒m▒32mcore1.servers.co▒m] ▒m▒36m/ip dhcp-client▒m>

DHCP protocol allows dynamic configuration of IP addresses of hosts on the network. Router can obtain its IP address from DHCP server running on attached network.

▒m▒36m..▒m▒33m – ▒mgo up to ip
▒m▒35madd▒m▒33m – ▒mCreate a new item
▒m▒35mcomment▒m▒33m – ▒mSet comment for items
▒m▒35mdisable▒m▒33m – ▒mDisable items
▒m▒35medit▒m▒33m –
▒m▒35menable▒m▒33m – ▒mEnable items

I’m not sure how this is happening but it also happens to an identical CCR1036 on 6.37 as well
In PuTTY I have remote character set to UTF-9 (I’ve tried a few others but no success). Also tried rebooting and with no success. No settings have been changed recently - this seems completely random.

Any ideas how to fix this issue?

Thanks

I think you need to be looking at your terminal emulator rather than the router, as that looks to me to be the ANSI terminal colour sequences (See down the bottom of http://www.termsys.demon.co.uk/vtansi.htm) getting mangled slightly and passed through to the terminal rather than being processed correctly.
