This new platform has been a real hedache all the time because thread sorting inside a category does not work properly.
What makes it even worse is that pinning does not work as expected - if i want to put some of globally pinned topics out of sight then this works as expected, but I do not understand why globally pinned topics become unpinned every time I make new post in them and therefore disappear from sight?
Is there any logical explanation to this behavior?
this was one of the first and most important things to do in the new forum software: unpin topics. There are quite a few pinned topics by default, bloating the "latest topics" view. I unpinned them all - and they never came back.
That is true - I unpin ones that are of no interest to me - but topics that I follow getting constantly unpinned by itself is not a good idea. It means that topic that is visible when not logged in disappears from its' place after logging in.
It basically defeats the whole idea of pinning. Fortunately this setting can be changed - but default value does not make sense...
Well, I think one of the big advantages of the new forum is that you cannot only unpin topics, you can also unfollow them.
In the old forum I always started out reading the topics that I posted in, but it wasn't possible to remove a topic from that list when it went offtopic or otherwise wild.
Now I can just silence topics and even different levels (tracking/watching/normal/muted).
