For those of you who own a hAP ax³, are there any things you’re dissatisfied with or bothers you?
I currently own a hAP ac³ which I’m satisfied with except perhaps for the speed of the wireless network. Is it worth upgrading to the ax3 or should I wait for a new future release?
Personally I would probably just wait unless the lower wireless speed is actually costing you (more than) the cost of an ax3.
Afaik Mikrotik hasn’t announced anything yet but given that WIFI7 devices are being certified, Qualcomm already has multiple WIFI7 platforms available, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’d see the first Mikrotik WIFI7 devices being launched this year
I don’t have the ax3, but I do have a Hap ax2 and Cap ax using capsman on the hap ax2 as controller.
Things I don’t like
Older IOS devices still won’t connect with FT enabled.
5735-5875/14=25mw Europe and UK makes those frequencies useless. Things I do like
Price
speed (WiFi 5g 700Mbps 3mtrs away 350Mbps 10mtrs away)
stability (you can beat these things to death with packets and they won’t fall over)
addlists (get rid of pi-hole)
Quad Core Arm64 1GB Ram
2 Ethernet ports on the Cap ax
I think if you look around wifi6 devices in general, they all have the same problem and that is regulation gone mad!
Don’t expect it to perform as well over distance if you want 5G and speed, you will just need to get more!.
Waiting for wifi 7 ? umm well I guess you might get a little more space and a couple more mw’s though higher frequencies=more devices required for the holly-grail of speed vs distance the higher you go. If you have a big pile of cash and very new devices throughout your house that more than likely don’t support 160-wide never mind 320-wide, go for it and good luck
I have a medium sized 3 bedroon house, my Hap-ax2+Cap ax is just about perfect for that.
You are aware that with latest ROS7 versions you can load wave2 drivers on that AC3 without any problem (it’s one of the devices with plenty of storage, unlike most other arm-based AC devices) ?
Makes a HUGE difference.
