Hap lite performance review!

I want to use two hap lite for pptp VPN setup ..also want to use these hap lite as WiFi router at both end ..
So I want to know how will be the performance of hap lite in this condition..
Is both pptp and wifi can be configured on same device?

Anybody reply for this who have used this product..its urgent!!

Yes, you can use both features at the same time.

I haven’t Btested it for performance, but it was sufficient when i used it.

I want to know that if the hardware specification is sufficient for pptp VPN also along with wifi configuration??

Moris please share your opinion also!

What is the question here? Any device will support VPN. It is not very resource intensive.

Give us more details about what type of VPN you need and how many users you will connect there. Are you actually talking about VPN server or client on the RouterBOARD?

Actually I want to configure pptp server client VPN..6 users one side and 4 users second side

you could have 100 maybe  sure, no problem. any RouterBOARD can do it

Means wifi and pptp VPN both side

So these configuration is not that high resource intensive that hap lite won’t support right!?

Actually I m in doubt that this device having RAM and hdd will not support this type of configuration!

This is not very intensive config. You can have more VPN connections without problems. RAM and HDD space is not relevant for such setup. CPU is fast enough.

Wireless AP + NAT + firewall + SNTP + Fasttrack + DNS + uPnP + PPTP server, on 50Mbps connection, no problems what so ever.
I think you need to stop making theories and actual try the thing.

 okayi have to try this in live scenario.. Thanks for you advices both of you..

Actually I was comparing its price and resources with cisco rv042, rb450, rb750 which has higher price that’s why I am so much confused.

In Cisco world you even have to pay for extra static routes
A week ago I came across rather beefy 48 port router/switch combo which refused to add 17th static route without additional license costing more than $5k :open_mouth:

Mikrotik world is totally different - limits on licenses are well… above what hardware can handle  No devices are crippled - all devices supports all features (of course except some special features where additional hardware is required, e.g. for hardware switching).

maybe a little less than that for vpn performance

i have tested haplite on a ipsec site to site AES-128cbc SHA1 gets a maximum of 29mbit/s with 100% cpu usage

a heavy nat + firewall + mangle + queue tree gets a maximum of 45mbit/s with 100% cpu usage

off course a simpler configuration moves 100mbit/s without problem

I recently bought an hAP Lite, configured a hotspot on it at my home for three users, upgraded to the latest firmware and the device never came back up after reboot. Tried resetting it multiple times too and still wouldn’t come back up. Eventually swapped it out for an RB-750R2.

You should use http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Netinstall than.

Swapped the device for an RB750R2 - working well
