Anybody had their hAP2 soft outside turn to goo on them? You can easily leave your finger prints in it and whatnot. I ended up covering it with plastic so it doesn’t stick to my hands.
What is the environment?
Any oils or plasticizers come in contact with it?
Or soft plastics in contact with it?
Or “china” rubber (the kind that stinks, that cheap car floormats are made from. If you have ever been in a Harbor Freight store, you will know the smell).
It was just sitting in my house not in contact with anything. The humidity would have been higher but that’s about it.

removed the stick rubber of ac2 by using ethanol with kitchen metal sponge.
just add 2cents , mine ac2 was brought running since 2018, the thermal paste between heat sink and pcb dried out every year, and the caps near pwr input has gone bad, i replace them with solid-state capacitor. maybe is time to check yours too...

It always seemed to me that ozone had something to do with it. I ran an electrostatic air cleaner for a number of years, and things seemed to die faster than after it was retired.
Loosely by adding oxigen you are accelerating oxidizing, which affects (mainly) metals like tin and brass (but not only) and some plastics, particularly the "rubber-like" kinds.
In Covid times came out (and were sold as a safe disinfecting solution) some very powerful ozone generators, intended to saturate a whole room (typically you closed the room, with the generator in it, switched to on, for a couple of hours, then aerated it for half an hour).
There are tales of TV sets failing in no time and door locks jamming.
I understand that clearly . . . the comment was more to note that those in big urban areas with air pollution issues ("Ozone action days" and such) might see this more than those in less affected areas.
When in the Dallas area, I had a fair amount of this, foam speaker surrounds, etc. dying . . .

Some of mine are starting to transmogrify into the Goo of Doom. They're lovely when new, but absolutely horrid when they start to decompose. My Psion 3C and 5 suffered the same fate 
3D-printed cases in the AC^2s' future, I think...
