Hardware requierments

We are currently monitoring a network of around 300 devices with around 500 probes and a good bit of graphing.
We are using Beta6 on an HP prolient ML 310 G2 windows 2003 server (3.4GHz P4 1 gig ram, gig ethernet, SATA raid1)

performance is now getting very slugish, CPU is toping 50 % and ram usage is high…using a lot of page file to.

Is anyone running such a big network, if so what hardware and OS are you using?

Any tips on hardware or speeding thing up would be useful.

I have 100 devices in v2.2 in my home computer athlon x2 3800 1gram, i’am barrely noticing dude existance…, just box need to be rebooted after 2-4 days if i need extra ram because there is probably little memory leak…

You should restart the Dude service several times per month (I do it once per week). It has (some) memory leaks, so it eats up your RAM. Here it grows with about 40-50Mb per day.

Thanks for the comments:-
What I notice here:
Over about 75 seconds the the Mem usage (windows task manager–Processes–dude.exe) grows slowley at first then quickly to 800Mbyte+, then collapses back down.
Likewise the page file size (windows task manager–Performance–PF) grows slowley at first then quickly to 1.3Gbyte+ over the same 75 seconds.
During the last stages of this repetitive buildup cycle dude clients freeze and pings / snmp fail/timeout…
Cpu usage is eratic but is highest near the final stages of the cycle to around 60%
Maybe I don’t have enough RAM, at 1GB (no other apps are running other than basic windows stuff, and their memory profiles are all stable).
So why is Dude 3Beta6 using so much RAM/Pagefile?

OK,
This project was on a new server, when we upgraded the server (Hardware only) I also upgraded from Dude 2.1 to Dude 3Beta6… We have just downgraded to Dude 2.1 (origional files) and then up to Dude 2.2.. and everything is running smoothly again.

So my conclusion is Dude: 2.1 & 2.2 runs ok on Windows 2003 server standard eddition, (HP prolient 310 G2 fully patched with windows 2003 server also fully patched) however Dude 3Beta6 has an issue running on this paltform.

Hope this helps… and hoping the issue is resolved before release 3 (I most want weekly Graphing feature BTW)
