help 333 pentium 3 1000

Dear All

Please can you kindly explain rb333 and p3 1000ghz which is faster.
it is said that 333 is 3 times faster than rb500 .will it mean that rb 333 is have 999ghz in normal computering.

Help am confused.
it is said that rb 1000 is also faster than all P IV .
Best regards

What is your goal? The 333 is probably faster in raw routing due to the packet engine, and is probably more reliable than a 7 year old hunk of iron. If you have some deep queuing, the P3 may surpass it somewhat.

I think P3 1000MHz faster than RB333 in routing and NAT

I don’t think you are right. Rb333 can throughut the maximum possible over 100Mbit cards (200Mbit total over two interfaces) with no delay. See throughput tests on routerboard.com

Nice to have such a comparison/throughput test with all boards.

Where do you see the "RB532 is 2-3 times faster than Geode (RB230) system"
and "RB333 is 2-3 times faster than RB532" ?? Max 2 times or less ...

you should take into account that VoiP and games use small packets, so, more router can pass through the better, larger packets are only used by larger downloads.

so there is no joy looking what throughput is using large packets as they most probably will max out interface.

when did anyone say anything about geode systems?

Am currently running wireless links on piii 1000 but want to switch to rb333 or rb600.

l currently have very stable network but want to expand to new areas with router board .

Please which is best or faster for wireless link
P IV
P III
Rb 333
Rb 600

Thanks

@ Normis: It's written in your RB532 description:

[..] Compared to Geode SC1100 based boards, this power-efficient design performs 2 to 3 times faster thanks to a MIPS 4Kc core CPU architecture. [..]

depends on application of course

Routing, bridging is true but not in NAT. Pentium III 500 is many time faster make NAT than RB 333.
