Hi,
Firstly please bare with me as I’m new to this router configuration. I’ve attached an image of my current home network (home_network_10_13). As I use a VOIP provider for my phone service the Netgear TA612V VoIP Router/ATA is the router/DHCP server for the network. The RB951G is used in AP mode for wireless device.
I’ve recently been able to configure my WHS server to sleep while not inuse, but I require to be able to Wake on Wan the server. Its seems the TA612V cant configure the necessary port forwarding to achieve this.
Looking at the admin capability of the RB951G it would appear to be highly configurable (if one knew what they were doing), and this is why I’m here
Therefore I’d like to achieve a target network (target_network_11_13) so it meets these broad requirements:
- Provides typical security for the home network
- Allows the TA612V to function as VoIP/ATA with QoS
- Enable UPnP on the RB951G (used by the WHS setup)
- Create port forwarding rules (including to broadcast addresses)
- ACL control on the RB951G wireless
I can start with the http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Initial_Configuration but I have to say all of the admin capabilities are foreign to me and I think I will need alot of help. I believe it will take me some time to achieve my goal, my aim is to save my current RB951G configuration and then slowing make my way to the new setup, alternating between my current setup and the target as my better half would be lost without a working phone!!!
I’d appreciate if others could offer me pointers on how best to get started etc…
Thanks
W.
