Hello everyone,
my wife, my two children and I have bought a new house and I would like to revise/renew the existing network structure.
The current components are from the previous owner and are a bit of a hodgepodge. I have spent the last few weeks reading up on the internet and am currently of the opinion that I should go completely microtic for routing/switching.
I have the following setup in mind:
Modem: Draytek Vigor
Router: RB5009UPr+S+IN
Switch1: CRS326-24G-2S+RM
Switch2: CRS326-24G-2S+RM
WIFI1: Ruckus R320
WIFI2: Ruckus R320
All 3 devices are installed in a small rack. Since there is a children’s room right next to it, I unfortunately have to pay attention to the volume and therefore chose these two switches.
For the cabling WAN goes from modem to RB5009 from there I would cable SFP+ to Switch1 and from there with SFP+ to Switch2.
→ What would be your recommendation for the cables?
→ Do you have any further suggestions / recommendations where I could improve?
I am also already watching various YouTube videos, as the Mikrotik-World is completely new territory for me. My current goal is to set up 3 different VLANs
- Main
- Work (4 LAN Ports / WIFI)
- Guest (only WIFI)
For this I would first create a bridge in the RB5009 over all ports (except WAN). I would then assign all 3 VLANs to this bridge (including VLAN filtering).
On the Router i will defince different DHCP Servers for the 3 WLAN’s
→ Is that correct as far as it goes?
→ Perhaps anybody of you have a guide/best practice for that?
I would then also create a bridge with 24 ports on each of the two switches. 90% of the ports will be used for the Main-VLan
→ Is that correct?
→ Perhaps anybody of you have a guide/best practice for that?
Thx in advance
