Higher latency when enabling Bridge function on RB1200

Hi All,

I’ve just got my RB1200 in and connected it to my servers (briding port 9 and 10). I’m seeing about 15ms higher latency then before, so I’ve started an investigation on whats going on

Pings used to be under 5ms coming from my test server over the internet to my collocated network. Now it avarages at about 15ms (with peeks of 25).

test 1: connect the RB1200 (port 10) to the network, setup an ip address and add the default gw.
Ping the RB1200-IP from remote host: 3ms stable

test2: same setup as test1, bridge enabled, connected port 9 and 10 to the bridge
Ping the RB1200-IP from remote host: 15-20ms
Ping the server behind RB1200: 15-20ms

test3: only ether10 (port10) attached to the bridge, all other interfaces disabled
Ping the RB1200-IP from remote host: 15-20ms

It looks like as soon as I connect the uplink port to the bridge pings are getting high, cpu usage is always 1-5% so low
IP Firewall is off.

I;ve tested with firmware 5.24 and 6.0rc11 both are giving me the same results.

Any idea where to look next?

Avoid using ports 9 and 10 on the 1200.

I dug up some threads a while ago… But just try using other ports.

Hmm, interesting…

Are you referring to this thread? http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/rb1200-performance-issues-on-ether9-and-10/59214/1

i’ll swap the ports over tomorrow night and post the results here
