Hotspot Cookies vs. Internet Explorer

Hi all.

I’m trying to get cookie authentication working, on a very basic hotspot setup.

Everything else is working fine, including the trial system and cookies are working fine in Firefox, but in Internet Explorer it seems the cookie isn’t even stored in the first place.

I have all security and privacy settings down as low as possible and IE doesn’t give any message or icon about blocking a cookiel.

I’ve tried on several PCs all with exactly the same response.

I’ve tried searching for the cookie which is in the Firefox cookie list in Internet Explorer (i.e. the cookie which orginates from the routerboard IP with one variable called loginID), and I can’t find it at all.

It seems as though IE is just ingoring the set cookie request completely, although there plenty of other cookies from other websites.

I’m using routeros 3.28.

Has anyone else seen anything like this? Any ideas on how to fix it?

At the moment my planned service is broken without full IE support!

Thanks for any help.

I think these hotspot cookies are stored in “/ip hotspot cookie” on the router.

Hi.

Indeed they do, but for some reason Internet Explorer is not receiving it even though Firefox is.

Cheers.

Doesn’t show on my Windows clients either, but it still seems to work.

For any one that’s interested I found the problem:

I didn’t set the date on my test unit, and IE won’t accept cookies from 1970!
