Hotspot HTTPS redirect.

Good afternoon.
Once it does not work properly HTTPS on hotspot turn it off.
Why create extra functionality if it does not work correctly.

You can’t easily redirect https traffic in any hotspot. Your device should do this instead.

For example in iPhones it happens like this - device detects that it has WiFi connection, but has no internet connection. It checks some HTTP site (apple site) in background, and compares with the known content. It is does not match, it assumes it must be login page and SHOWS it to the user then.

If your device does not do this, maybe it has other method to detect connection.

What is solution for HTTPS then with MikroTik? Since it is coming more and more of a standard - common browsers push towards https, some antiviruses and corporate machines don’t even open http sites..

It does work correctly. The purpose of this feature is to use on corporate or restricted scenarios where you can enforce the usage/installation of specific HTTPs certificates & Certificate Authorities (users have to install them to be able to use the network).

Obviously, this is not suitable for general “unattended” public hotspot scenarios.
