Hotspot - Let the user login only once

Hi all,

In my Hotspot setup, I would like to let the users login only once, and then no longer bother them with passwords forever. (I use Hotspot, simply to record how much bandwith is used by which user.)

How to achieve that? In the User Profile, I see settings like idle-timeout, session-timeout & keepalive-timeout,… but I don’t get what the default values mean. Can I use these settings to avoid future authentication requests?

And if so, how does this work technically? When the authentication method is MAC, I understand. Yet, when it’s CHAP?.. How does the router recognize a returning user?

Thank you,
J.

Hello

Technically it is possible but yes this is not good practice due to security reason as well Network level, because if you want user to be online always then that will use your network all the time if he is even in ideal mode.

So better you keep it as they need to login. Or you can set cokies based auth, up to what time cookies wont deleted he / she can be logedin
