Hotspot with transparent appearance

Hello all,

I would like to setup a Hotspsot using Mikrotik, however I would like my clients to use addresses on the same subnet as the Internet gateway and be able to be identified individually by the gateway also.

This implies that I only want MT to act as a captive portal and authenticate the clients, then log and disconnect them, but I dont want it to filter, firewall nor masquerade their traffic. Can anyone tell me how I may be able to get this done?

I have considered using a bridge to do it, but i’m really not sue how this would all tie in with the hotspot, and how the login page and walled garden features can all still work in this setup. Any input or help would be kindly appreciated.
Thank you.

What do you mean with that?

but I dont want it to filter

If you don’t filter why would users log in?

Why not use masquerade? How about netmap?

Nothing is magic, I recommend to read complete this…

http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.9/ip/hotspot

or better this…

Regards!

Hi,

I’m after the same thing - have you had any luck with this dexteroo? I have used Netmap for a similar effect however, all port 80 traffic still seems masqueraded.

Thanks
