I have a Rb532a, and I would like to attach a 7200RPM 200GB 2.5" SATA harddrive to it. Can it be done? If so where would I look for instructions on how to do it?

Thanks

Ariel: send me you msn to elmaxi[at]gmail.com. I remember those years. Look where we meet again, crazy not?

Yes, TCP/IP never well dead, in a way or of the other, we will continue transmitting packets!!!
I send a mail.

thanks again.

rb532 only has the Compact Flash slot no SATA port. Compact Flash is similar to ATA/IDE but it would be difficult to arrange a power supply and adapter for a IDE/PATA hard drive. And then the compact flash controler on the routerboard probably wouldn’t know how to mount the hard drive.

Instead just get a large compact flash card, 8,12 & 16 GByte cards are available. Another alternative would be a IBM micro-drive that uses a compact flash interface. Seagate also makes a hard drive in a Compact Flash form factor.

If you want a 2.5" drive you could just install RouterOS on a mini-ITX x86 system. I just use the parent proxy setting instead and point it to my Linux proxy server in my NOC with large and fast drives.
