You can install RouterOS CHR installation in your Ubuntu. You need some kind of Virtual Machine software in your Ubuntu. Some examples are here:
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:CHR#Steps_to_install_CHR

Hello.
As I can see the operation of QoS in a virtual network made with GNS3, Video, VoIP and Data Vlan are used. The problem is the following I am using GNS3 software which allows me to emulate the image of the mikrotik CHR, I use 1. router with the CHR image of the Mikrotik 2 switch, a trunk mode and access mode is used for both switches. The Vlans are working fine, but I don’t know how to test QoS on these Vlans, I was thinking about virtualizing on different machines.
Please, if you could help me, thank you!

This is a defunct thread but since this shows up when searching in google for instructions to install mikrotik on contabo here is the information

You can use a variation of the installation instructions https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:CHR_Hetzner

You go into contabo panel, run recovery on the vps you want to use, chose debian as your recovery

Connect to it and do this command

curl -L https://download.mikrotik.com/routeros/7.7/chr-7.7.img.zip | funzip | dd of=/dev/sda bs=1M

Once it finishes you can reboot the vps and it will resize the parition on boot and start the CHR instance

That is all!

Never ever assign a public ip to a new unprotected firewall/router in a cloud service, especially for software like CHR that has a well known admin user without password. I’m kind of surprised that a security-related company like Mikrotik would publicly provide this type of inappropriate advice. That is just very bad practice!

In case of DigitalOcean, disable the public ip on the droplet and use a jump server to protect the newly installed router until it’s fully configured and tested.
