How many users with 2x 2.4GHz Nodes¿?

Hello all,

I have a customer with about 130 users in 2 nodes. These 2 nodes are connected via 5GHz link, without NStreme. It’s about 20 Mbps TCP 100% CCQ.
These 130 users are getting access with a 493AH hotspot, connected to one 433AH AP (node 1). The 493AH only makes qos and hotspot, but I have always the CPU at 50%.

Resuming.. I have 2x433AH nodes connecting with 130 nanostations2 in 2.4GHz. This is a rural area without many interferences.. but… There are too many users for using this network at 2.4GHz? May I change 50% of users to 5GHz? I’m having problems with bad pings (50ms-150ms of latency) when about 40 users working. It’s not problem of internet connection (using 6 of 10 Mbps), and the CPU of the 493AH don’t arrive to 80%. Where is the problem? There are only 3 users that have less than -50 of signal. The other users are at about -50 -85.

Thanks,

Do you have RTS/CTS enabled in clients?
130 clients on one AP sounds an awful lot to me, the least RTS/CTS should be used (and triggered). No matter how powerfull an AP is, airtime has to be shared. I would quess 50 active users per AP is a limit. I try to keep associated clients to a max. of 35-40. If lots of them have traffic I see real time traffic already start to suffer.

Your question: “May I change 50% of users to 5GHz?” is a bit weird. Why not? Who is keeping you from doing so?

Last question: my customer money.. The 130 clients are working in the 2 APs. I’ll start to move them to 5 ghz.

Thanks!
