How to make a complete Backup of a broken Mikrotik Chateau including wireguard configuration

Hello,
hope you are all fine.

I need to replace my 5g Chateau Router, because the 5g quectel chip is broken.
So I will get a new router soon (same model).

What is the best way to make a “really full backup” of the old router and restore it into the new router.

Do I have to care about firmware and other tricky things?
Need to know this, because at the moment there is a Mikrotik firmware on this router, which was uploaded by a mikrotik technichan (see the picture).

It is also important, that the wireguard VPN clients also will be restored properly.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards Arthur

“built by agent at O…” ???
What is the full string??? is the 1st time I see it…

On terminal:

/export show-sensitive file=exconfig

Then save the file exconfig.rsc somewhere.
DO NOT POST the file on forum.

When you have new device, upgrade to default stable 7.16.1. [REMOVE THE SIM AFTER UPDATE…]
Reset it without default config (on system reset menu),
open the device by MAC with winbox, and paste section-by-section the content of exconfig.rsc opened with something like notepad.
Only when you have finished restore the config, put back the SIM.
(If you leave the SIM, you have the 90% chance of the router be hacked when you reset it, before restore the config.)

Mikrotik Agent was taking over, because the Queltec chip did not correspond wit N78 anymore, and LTE / 5G crashed after doing a speedtest.

They did a hell of a lot work on this thing before they decided to take it back to Lithuania.
I belive that Queltec has a problem in general with n78 (Does not the Zyxel Nr7101 do also use Queltec Chip and that one also crashed in my tests).

Thanks for the advice with “/export show-sensitive file=exconfig” and taking out the sim card.

Finally we got the new chateau router, and we tried to restore as suggested.
Unfortunately it did not work.
Somehow we got stuck with the wireless cards.

But anyway a normal backup did the trick.

We tested the new router with the n78 band and it also crashed. So the queltec chip or our provider has got a serious problem with n78 band.

Thanks for your help!
Regards.
