How to set or add IP Public from Modem directly to MikroTik

Hi, I subscribe to an internet connection with public IPv4. The ISP uses Fiberhome GPON HG6145D2 with an IPoE route connection. How to set/add the Public IP directly on MikroTik? Thank you in advance for the information and help.

It is rather a question for Fiberhome forum than a Mikrotik one, but what are the other choices for Connection Type than Route?

There’s only have 2 Connection Type, Route and Bridge.

Hi, I’m just guessing here but try changing the “connection type” to “bridge”.

Make sure the cable from the HG6145D2 is connected to the MikroTik WAN port. From Winbox, go to the IP menu → DHCP Client and check if the interface gets a public IP address. Btw, switching to bridge-mode will probably disable access to the built-in Wi-Fi on the HG6145D2.

EDIT:
if you’re not getting an IP address you might need to set up VLAN 1493 on the Mikrotik’s WAN port.

The changes of the available items after choosing “bridge” should give a hint here, although I must say I am a bit surprised by seeing the VLAN settings to be grayed out in the “Route” mode. But maybe it is just a weird graphical design and they actualy are editable?

Yeah, hard to say. Btw, since the WAN list name and service type are showing up as TR069xx I’m starting to think this menu might actually be the CPE admin menu, not the regular user interface. If that’s the case, VLAN 1493 is hopefully terminated in the CPE. I mean, it’s not common practice to force VLAN settings on the consumer side unless it’s a preconfigured triple play device or similar.

The VLAN are editable. How about the DHCP Server on the modem, does it have to be disabled?

If you’ve already set it to bridge mode it shouldn’t matter since the Mikrotik will handle DHCP for you instead. But to be on the safe side you can disable it.

I would set the Huawei box to bridge the WAN just to a single LAN port and let the remaning LAN ports as they were, not removing the DHCP server, otherwise you are likely to lose access to management of the Huawei box (since yesterday, I have purely incidentally gone through this process with of another Huawei box, so now I can pretend to be a Huawei guru  )

Nothing better than the red army having a clear digital path to all the homes in Europe

That’s fine since the OP’s device is Fiberhome, not Huawei. :unamused:
For once you are as non-expert with them as the rest of us.
I configured yesterday a ZTE, maybe it counts …

Yes, my fault, however the logics of the GUI looks so similar that I assume there is at least some inspiration between the two, if they are not just two brands of the same corporation.

Sindy, good advice regarding the LAN ports! You only go down in flames once (usually ).

The slow drip drip drip of digital intrusion and take over…
