HTTP-Proxy, Web-Proxy, and SOCKS-Proxy?

Hi guys,

Anyone can tell me what is the difference between HTTP-Proxy, Web-Proxy, and SOCKS-Proxy?

I would be thankful to anyone trying to enlightening me about this issue.

http proxy and web proxy is the same thing.

socks proxy is another thing, read the manual and wikipedia on this.

hi normis,

if http-proxy and web-proxy are the same, then why there are two ways to configure them in MT one under /ip proxy and the other one under /ip web-proxy?

one is for new version (ip proxy) one is for old version (web proxy). use the first one. in RouterOS v3 there is only one.

My Mikrotik is 2.9.27, so do you advice me to use ip proxy instead of web-proxy currently i am using?

is there any benefit or advantages I can gain if I switch to ip proxy instead of web-proxy?

my advice is to upgrade to 2.9.48 or v3 and use the new proxy there. upgrade is free for all purchased licenses.
