IEEE 802.11ac (wave 2)

Hello MikroTik team,

I love the new WAP AC device. Finally 802.3af/at PoE, but still 802.11ac first generation ASICs, i.e. “Wave 1”.Let´s look at current Atheros chipsets:

  • For 2.4Ghz only :
    TP9343(Dragonfly) MIPS 74Kc 750 MHz bgn 3x3:3

  • For 2.4/5.0Ghz:
    QCA9990 PCIe abgn+ac 4x4:4 Wave2 MU-MIMO 80MHz
    QCA9994 PCIe abgn+ac 4x4:4 Wave2 MU-MIMO 160MHz

Of course the QCA9994 would be my favourite.

  • So, what is the current state of Mikrotik based wave 2 devices. Are those in development state, already?
  • Will wave 2 products be announced in 2016?
  • Will wave 2 products be available in 2017?

Some hints would be great. :sunglasses:

Cards are on sale?

Google find:
Qualcomm Atheros QCA9994

Qualcomm Atheros QCA9984:

other cards?

Let´s push this one, sorry
(I am waiting for second generation WAP AC, as CAPSMAN tunnel needs a lot of CPU… Therefore an ASIC with more integrated CPU power would be nice to have)

Would these be supported in RouterOS?

No, driver does Not Support them
I tryed 9888 Wave 2 2x2 from Compex,
->unknown device

the 4x4 will arrive in october, But i think Mikrotik ROS Wireless Driver is outdatet!

They are Working on your own driver, so It will Need Time to implement new Chipsets, i Hope not the Same Time Span since we Hoping for ROS 7.0

Any updates on this?

QCA9984 supported in ROS yet?

And QCA9888

There’s no Wave2 support for anything yet.

shame on Mikrotik but it is the truth

wave 2 work in the new RouterOS update?

RouterOS v7? Probably. Who knows when though…

IPQ4018/4019 in the new arm devices (sxtsq, hap ac2, disc lite 5ac) is wave2.
support for 160MHz channel and 80+80mhz is there.

No no the situation is different..
There is at WLE650V5-25A compex card to be used on the RB800. But it does not show the RB800 card

there are only these two chipsets (IPQ4018/19) supported, and not with Wave 2 Features!

any news?

Wave AC drivers in the next ROS 8 version

Bud i see Mikrotik ROS Audience RBD25G-5HPacQD2HPnD supported QCA9984 chip.

If take RouterBOARD RBM11G with MiniPCI and stick this card there (http://www.compexshop.com/product_info.php/cPath/104_114/products_id/486) with the QCA9984 chip, will it work?
What your think?

Does not work, try Openwrt, that works…
