Hi

Bought a new MikroTik hAP ac2 Dual Band 5 Port and am struggling to set it up.

The packaged instructions and the wiki (https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/First+Time+Configuration) refer to HTTP into 192.168.88.1.
That IP isn’t working. I can see and connect to the “MikroTik” SSID.

Using WinBox as detailed in the wiki (find neighbours) I can see the router at 192.168.101.1 … but that IP doesn’t respond to HTTP/S requests either.
WinBox can’t connect to the router either using the default credentials (admin/blank pwd).

What should I do here? It’s almost like the device came with some non-default config, but it was sealed and new as far as I know.

Where did you buy it? If it came from your ISP, they sometimes pre-configure it some other way. Then you must ask the seller / installer

No, it’s not from the ISP. A generic large online retailer, think Amazon but a local competitor.

Edit: I checked the listing again and it’s a third party one - some random local tech supplier. I’ll try and contact them but I’m not super hopeful.
Unfortunately I waited too long and the “no questions asked” return period had passed.

Just to close the loop: the factory reset worked. Thanks for the assistance.

You didnt get a new unit, it had been used prior.
