iperf3

Hey there

Is there a way that RouterOS supports iperf3 directly?
I have found BTest under Tools but there seems not to be a client for most OSes, only an .exe file from the mikrotik homepage, which is useless to me.
Is that proprietary?

Cheers

Hi,

There are public btest servers you can use for the purpose…

Thanks!
I tried those, not getting full speed there and has also only limited usefulness inside a lan and little flexibility.
Is there any issue with iperf3 that i am not aware that mikrotik reinvented the wheel?
btest.exe also did not work inside a vm properly, got like 5kb/s to the router inside a 1G lan, 0 probs with iperf.

You don’t want to test to/ from router anyway, as you will run into limitations of CPU, etc, so will not gain much. Best is to test “through” the router, and in that case, iperf is a good tool
