I am trying to setup an IPSec VPN between two RB450Gs running RouterOS 6.4 on both routers.
I am in the same physical location but have assigned each router a different WAN IP address on the internet, and have different networks within each router, 10.0.0.0/24 and 10.0.2.0/24.
Both routers are online and I have tested access and used ipchicken.com to confirm different IP addresses on the internet. These work great.
I have followed several different tutorials online to try setup the IPSec VPN but none of them appear to work. They are pretty straight forward, however they don’t connect. I have tried adding the NAT Bypass rules, tried without, tried turning on NAT Traversal on and off, disabled all firewall filter rules to make sure none of interfering. There is just no sign of the IPSec VPN even trying to connect. So I can’t tell whats wrong.
I do show an item under the “Remote Peers” option reflecting the correct IP addresses, but nothing ever comes in on the “Installed SAs”. On the policy tab and clicking on the statistics button, there are no errors what so ever. so I am stumped.
Ultimately I am prepping the routers to connect for one router to move locations and operate on a different IP address, at which point i’d obviously update all the rules to match the new IP, but trying to at least get it working here, and simulating it by using two different external IPs.
