I have a question about configure VLAN TRUNK from one MK over ETH cable to another MK that give me an option to have a few RJ45 ports open to the Internet data and one RJ45 for IPTV steaming. Can I configure it using for that two of MK routers?
From my ISP I have a Huawei Router turned to bridge mode and link to MK haP ax2 C52iG router.
From Huawei (ISP Router) at ETH1 port I have only Data (Internet) and at ETH2 port there is IPTV. Next ports are configured from ISP to the next TV’s but right now there are off.
I have plug ETH1 from Huawei to ETH1 in Mikrotik and configured WiFi 2GHz and 5GHz network and on port ETH2 the cable signal into the wall.
The problem is that I have only one network cable in the wall and I need to choose between Data (Internet) or IPTV signal transported from the ISP router to the room where I have TV. TV has option to connect via RJ45 network cable to the Internet but right now I need to choose between IPTV signal and Data signal. Wifi is off the topic right now.
From the wall at RJ45 network cable I have put the MK haP ax3 C53UiG from where I want to switch one RJ45 network cable to the Data, IPTV and WiFi.
The question is how to configure it? I have been reading some of the topics on this forum and I haven’t get the VLAN#ID from my ISP and don’t even know it. I know the physical port is ETH2 and only at this port I can run signal to TV Decoder.
Can You tell me what I need to start to trunk on the one cable two signals (data and IPTV) that will be separated on the second MK router to IPTV and Data ports ?
Or this subject is to hard to explain based on my actual knowledge ?
I have attached a picture with I draw a topology of that connections…
I read a lot of topics where according to personal user setting discusion go to resolve a problem. The problem on my sitemis that I dont know frommwhere to start on…
Before finalizing LAN layout you have to know (find out) how exactly does your ISP deliver IPTV. There are different approaches, some ISPs use multicasts over VLAN (and their set-top boxes need that VLAN), some ISPs provision CPE ports to appropriate service network if set-top box is connected to that port, some ISPs do something else. If your ISP uses VLAN (then you have to know which VID is it), then it’s easy to distribute it throughout your LAN. Other cases my be harder to work with.
I try to contact with my ISP but he is not score any kind od help with this. In his opinion only way to distribute IPTV is accessing their own RJ45 porta into them router. Even their setup a logical analogy of every TV with shoul be connected. In case of Internet their dont have any issue, that was no problem to change thir router into the bridge mode and connect own devixe. I even try to ask them about VLAN ID but I have been pawned for that kind of asking… Problem on my site is that I have only one cabel in the wall and I wish there will be transported Internet and IPTV. I heared thet one of the Client use TPLink AC repeter and put the signal over the power-cables but their have limi for 100mb/s for that signal and this is not the option for me… these I know… Is there any change to start with that less information ?
I am using dedicated bridges on all affected Mikrotik devices and EoIP tunnels. It works without any problem with D-Telekom IPTV.
I have a RB5009 as router. It has been connected to the ONT with 2 separated ethernet ports. ETH 1 is used to PPPoE connections, ETH2 is used to IPTV and connected to the ONT dedicated IPTV port.
I have two bridges. The first HW offloaded bridge for Internet and Intranet and a second bridge for IPTV. I have added ETH2 to IPTV bridge and the EoIP interfaces.
I have Mikrotik devices in the rooms where i would like to watch TV. These are Wireless AP-s and used as CAP with CAPsMAN and has an endpoint for settopbox.
Everyones writes about IPTV VLAN IDs and other configuration and how I understand right now - it is beside of ISP router? When I want to grab a signal from ISP before it is go in the ISP router - I need this information to grab and distribute this signal over my devices? And if I want only trunk this port into VLAN to other MK device where can I back with of these is for Data (Internet) and what is for IPTV - I just trunk over VLAN these ports from first MK to another MK and the routers should gain access to what is Data and what is IPTV signal? I though that should be separated from the beginning - also I though that VLANS manage few psychical ports to one virtual but to know after trunk on the other side I need separated these information to decode it. This is right now all I know about VLANS and there is a lot of question where I cannot find a answers and it is hard to start when you don’t know what path go in begin…
@FurfangosFrigyes could You tell me how to config this setup ?
Just create two Bridges (separate for Internet and separate for IPTV) and trunk it using CAPsMAN from one MK to another and that’s it ?
