ipv4 DNS issues post update

I updated my hEX from 7.16.1 to 7.17.2 today and i can no longer resolve IPv4 dns queries. ipv6 seems to work as I can load websites.
on the router I get an error when checking for package updates: Error: could not resolve dns name (timeout).

pinging 1.1.1.1 from the terminal returns “no route to host”.

Any idea what changed in this update to break something? I would be very gratefull if someone could help me diagnose the issue.

That’s odd if you have default route to 0.0.0.0/0 it means any definitely your are not going to encounter no route to host error, please check your routing table

I think I figured it out. somehow the update nuked the DHCP client setting for ipv4. re-adding it seems to have fixed the issue. Strange…
