Hello,
We need to join two networks together with neighbor office. We both have separate internet connections but we want to share file servers between. Our neighbor office set up VLAN and gave us these instructions (see attachment). They are using Netgear equipment but we - Mikrotik. The goal is for both networks to have access each others internal IP range. That is should be done through 10G physical connection between switches.
We tried to follow instructions described in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38lR7UH51LY and other posts but no matter what we cannot ping to given address of neighbor network.
..deploying the correct VLAN config in your Switch alone will not suffice.
What you want, in the end, is inter-VLAN traffic to work…this means you will have to configure the Routers/GWs on both sides to allow routing (forwarding) between the two networks.
You want that connection towards neighbours to be routed on your device. That device has to run ROS (as in Router OS … no, switch OS won’t do). So either run ROS on CRS312 (and use it to route between different subnets, such as your LAN, neighbours, your internet router) … or run SwOS on CRS312 and use it as VLAN-aware switch, but then you need another router, such as your internet router.
