Lan protector

Hi, should I need lan protector? I’ll install it to big mountaint’s tower. Very Thundery place.

You have to ensure that proper grounding is used for equipment,

  1. Only shielded and outdoor usage Ethernet cables should be used, magnetic
    shield should be grounded via shielded RJ-45 connector or via additional wire
    that is soldered to RJ45 or ground wire.

  2. Grounding wire (at least 6mm2) should be connected to RouterBOARD case,
    this wire is connected to bottom of the tower and connection to the tower is
    according to the standards.
    Antenna grounding wire is connected near RouterBOARD Outdoor case, this wire
    could be connected to the same RouterBOARD grounding wire.

Where’s the Routerboard grounding hole or something in Routerboard?
I was planning to do it like,
Using cat6 cable.
Use Coax. Lightning protector near Outdoor box
Use Lan protector near outdoor box
Use Power Supply with Grounding included.

What cables are ok for that?
Can you look and say from here:

what I need is this cable which is called S-STP.

don’t worry, if a lighting strikes in your antena tower there will be no more need for lan protector :laughing:

It does, really…

:laughing:
Yeah… I also need this… So I will gorund the RBs…

Easy to say. How to do it at every client (CPE) installation???

rzirzi, you need to choose and calculate;

  • use proper grounding and other options to protect from lightening;
  • ready to change the equipment during the storm season.
