I have started College Wi-Fi network.. I am using Wi-Fi access point for wireless coverage.
I have number of clients which are using network. IP is assigned through DHCP to them. but my problem is that every client is able to see shared file of other users. It creates huge problem. Plz help me or suggest good solution..
Diagram is something like this:-
Client PC cloud → Wi-Fi access point → switch → Mikrotik x86 OS v5.0 – > internet gateway..
I know that as they get ip address they can communicate with each other directly bypassing router os.. but still need some solution for this..
Well there are several type of communication in network you would like to build.
One is WiFi station to station communication → can be turned off, if you want to use MT as AP device you can switch that off by swithing off option “default forwarding”.
two is staion of one AP to another station of another AP communication. this have to be turned of in the switch of make every AP on separate VLAN and terminate those VLANS on MT Router and drop this kind of communication.
Thanks for your reply. I am using Ubiquity bullet 2 hp as AP and for authorization RouterOS x86 . So how can i do it. I have created separate VLAN by using manageable switches so AP to AP communication is not there but when 5 users are connected to same AP then problem arises. .. cant I have separate subnet mask and gateway for each user..? if yes then how to configure it .?
i think ubiquity radios call it “client isolation” this will prevent any “cross-talk” with the wireless clients. enable that and none of the wireless clients will be able to see each other.
