For a friend in BR I want to buy a MT with LTE modem.
However, I am advised, that such equipment needs some type of ‘Certification’ for legal usage in BR.
Are all MTs legal to be used in BR ?
In Brazil: no! especially LTE components.
some distributors have submitted some old models for ANATEL certification.
LTE models I believe that works smoothly with some carriers.
I had a project to use them embedded, but due to Mikrotik’s delay in putting them into production and the difficulty in importing I gave up.
Thanx for confirmation. But what about using MT plus USB-dongle from carrier, where applicable ?
Also the MT-boards need “Certification” ?
1 - MT+Dongle - yes it works, but it depends on the dongle, use this link as a reference:
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Peripherals
2 - MT certificate? maybe yes or not.
If it is for domestic use not, but for commercial use yes.
You may want to check this information with official Mikrotik distributors in Brazil. Here you can find them: https://mikrotik.com/buy/latinamerica/brazil
I work with ISP`s in Brazil that use Mikrotik heavily and never had any problems with ANATEL. And I’ve been visited by them, so I don’t think its a problem as long as you prove that you imported them legally or bought them from a seller that provided the proper documentation.
