LHG LTE6 Slow Performance

Hi All,

I have recently for a LHG LTE6 to replace the old SXT LTE. However, I must say the performance has been very disappointing. I have the international version of both devices and use it in India in a rural area to get stable internet.

My SXT LTE (Cat 4) currently performs OK but I assumed the LHG LTE6 would provide better speeds and performance considering it has carrier aggregation (CAT6) and also a a better design for rural areas.

Device Details:
Model: “R11e-LTE6”
LTE Modem Firmware: revision: R11e-LTE6_V026
OS Version: 6.47.9 Long Term
Device Firmware Version: 6.47.9

Carrier: Jio
Type: LTE
LTE Bands in India: 3,5 & 40

I try both devices at the same location and same settings but the LHG LTE 6 cant even get half the speeds that the SXT LTE is capable of. Carrier Aggregation never works when the device is on Band 40 and occasionally kicks in when the device is on Band 3 or 5.

Need a desperate fix for this as I have tried all upgrades to software, shifting locations of the product and trying alternative carriers. Result is the same. Slow speeds i.e. hardly even half of what my older SXT LTE provides

The R11e-LTE6 https://mikrotik.com/product/r11e_lte6 have

2G Category Class12
2G bands 2 (1900MHz) / 3 (1800MHz) / 5 (850MHz) / 8 (900MHz)
3G Category R7 (21Mbps Downlinks, 5.76Mbps Uplink) / R8 (42.2Mbps Downlink, 5.76Mbps Uplink)
3G bands 1 (2100MHz) / 2 (1900MHz) / 5 (850MHz) / 8 (900MHz)
LTE Category 6 (300Mbit/s Downlink, 50Mbit/s Uplink)
LTE FDD bands 1 (2100MHz) / 2 (1900MHz) / > 3 (1800MHz) > / 7 (2600MHz) / 8 (900 MHz) / 20 (800MHz) / 5 (850MHz) / 12 (700MHz) / 17 (700MHz) / 25 (1900MHz) / 26 (850MHz)
LTE TDD bands 38 (2600MHz) / > 40 (2300MHz) > / 39 (1900MHz) / 41n (2500MHz)

Band 5 is only at 2G, not at LTE.

Are you referring to Interface>Lte ? Or any other tab?

Band 5 is there in LTE too as stated in the list that you have shared. Also I have only enabled LTE under interface. The network provider that I have mentioned (Jio, India) only transmits in LTE signal.

When testing at various locations, CA sometimes works when connected to Band 3 & 5 but never works when connected to Band 40. Cell Locking to Band 40 didn’t work and LTE didn’t register any bands until I removed Cell Lock.

Enabled logs as per instructions and logging has started.

Tried to import lteLogger2.rsc after uploading to device but I’m getting the following error
syntax error (line 41 column 7)

True, my mistake.

At Broshure you have that info:

syntax error (line 41 column 7)

When I open the ros6-lteLogger2.rsc I see 40 lines… maybe you try import wrong file… some miss here. You can open this file and check it, paste it at new terminal as:
{
paste part of code
} ENTER will run this code.

Hey. After multiple tries and tests the results are as follows. I’m sorry that I couldn’t not enable the logger

CA Works with Band 3 & 5. Speed is decent with that. However, with Band 40, the speed is very bad and CA doesn’t work at all.

To compare
My SXT LTE (Cat 4 modem) on Band 40 gives me 28 Mbps DL/ 8 Mbps UL speeds
My LHG LTE6 (Cat 6 Modem) on Band 40 gives me 3 Mbps DL/ 0.8 Mbps UL Speeds (CA Also Doesn’t Work)

B40 for EARFCN is like 2300Mhz - this freq should be good at SXTR and LHGR
No CA at B40+40 is probably as ISP freq limitation and your ISP probably at 2300 have one earfcn, not two. Or have 2x40 but not-contiguous one. Check this:

I use the same network on my phone and the network does provide B40+40 CA.. However, my primary issue is that the device performs very badly on B40. I have put screenshots comparing my old device with CAT4 LTE Modem. with the CAT6 LTE modem. You can se the difference. B40+40 CA not working is a secondary issue.

Any help would be appreciated, as there not too many users of this product in my country and I’m not an expert with these systems either.

LTE6 is connected to other Tower Sector Antena, it not have @20Mhz but @10Mhz and thats why is slower.

If your phone connect to 40+40 then try install some app who show you what phy-cellid and earfcn was used. This with Cell-Monitor can show us more light.
