Looking to replace CCR1009 with a newer CCR router...

I have an older CCR1009, I would like to replace with a newer CCR router that can handle the following:
1 uplink via Fiber 10G to my ISP
1 uplink via 1GB RJ45 to the same ISP

1 (or more) 10GB and 1 (or more) 2.5GB local RJ45 connections
8 (or more) 1GB local RJ45 connections

I am hoping it can load balance the local network over the 2 uplinks.

Also what is the easiest way to copy my security and NAT configs from the CCR1009 to the new device (it’s been ages since I setup the 1009 and I honestly don’t recall everything I had to do to get it working properly and securely.

Thank you,
LouisK

Once cannot copy, suggest start fresh and clean and build config slowly.
Starting with a network diagram to identify all the users/devices on the network as well as switches Aps etc..

Also, if you didnt know, Mikrotik has a website with all the details you seek. Have a look and pick which one has the features you need.

Off the top of my head I would look at the CCR2116-12G-4S+.
If you need more connections then simply add a switch → https://mikrotik.com/product/crs310_8g_2s_in

A newer ARM based CCR is about where you want to be looking for raw power but you may find yourself coming up short on ports for what you want.
There is almost an argument to build yourself a little host and run a CHR as that can be significantly more powerful for far less cash if you want to put the effort in.

With regards to ports though, consider running a firewall with horsepower -AND- a switch with what you want, LAN side connections are easily handled by a 10G uplink and WAN side if you’re “only” looking at 1Gb links you are most likely not going to need more CPU power.

If I were in your shoes - I’d be checking if that CCR1009 is actually hitting high cpu or struggling and if it wasn’t looking at how I can use a switch and getting vlan creative to see if I can do this without a router upgrade.

Hi Steve, he wants to hit 10Gigs with his ISP provider.
Why dont you check which routers are capable of routing 10gigs to the ISP for starters, not the CCR1009

My tired eyes read it as two 1Gb links, one on the sfp+ and the other on ether.

So yeah - big boy CCR or build a CHR.

I would still suggest a switch to do the heavy lifting for ports though.

Give this a read. I am sure a CCR2004 will more than meet your needs based on the very thorough testing the OP did after initially being pissed off with a new CCR2004+PC
