At random times throughout the day we might lose our backhaul link to a site that is 7 or 8 miles away, we are using CM9 cards in both, we’ve replaced cards and everything, changed channels, running in bridge mode, I can ping the other side with very low latency, sometimes it will spike but not much, 5GHz link on frequency 5240MHz, the logs on the mikrotik don’t even show it losing the link, and data doesn’t fully show to stop if I watch the interface, still shows rx and tx traffic but it’s very low, and at that time I am unable to ping the other side of the backhaul we’ve checked everything we know to check, we are running routeros 2.9.27 on both sides, were using post extensions but changed to pre because we thought maybe that was the issue which it didn’t seem to make a difference, configured data rates, 6 9 12 18 24mbps supported data rates, and 6mbps basic rates, running at 24mbps -58 to -60dB, the only way I have to get the link back up fairly quickly is disabling and reenabling the wireless interface causing the other side to reassociate, anyone know of any issues like this or what it may be that could be causing it?? Any help is appreciative.
I hope the following boiler plate from MikroTik is as helpful to you as it has been to us. The first thing I’d do is stuff the router with v 2.9.39 (as of this writing) since:
. you aren’t eligible for support unless you are running current edition
. it is safe to run
. you get support for winbox running under the latest wine
Personally, I would skip the recommendation to contact the DEALER/RESELLER, since MikroTik doesn’t require that dealers/resellers answer support email. YMMV.
Again, personally, I would augment item d, which could involve a
/system reset
with a backup prior to executing that step and be aware that the box on which you invoke ‘/system reset’ be within mac-telnet|walking|driving|flying|climbing distance/topology.

c. check that there is no water or moisture in the
cable and that there has never been water in the

I’d update to the latest version first. To me it sounds maybe like a noise problem. Maybe something near your link is using that band (like someones’ cordless phone). CM9 has very lower TX power in that frequency range, so it probably wouldn’t take much to overcome it. You might get better results in 5.7-5.8Ghz and/or an R52. I prefer the R52 cards over the CM9, they seem to just work much better (higher signal numbers, better performance).
