mesh with wifi (RouterOS ax Wi-Fi 6)

Hi,
there is a way to setup mesh with mikrotik Wi-Fi 6 ?
HWMPplus+mesh is not supported on Wifi interfaces.
I my dream world would be great if it can be made in CAPsMAN … i didn’t find any example.

Thanks

As you already wrote, HWMP is not supported by the AX drivers and what Mikrotik does not write in the documentation, WDS is not supported either.
The answer of the support to my request:

“As of today WDS is not directly supported for newer wifi-qcom driver set, hence WiFi6/AX devices - driver set state is not final and is being updated, no ETA or timeline can be shared, as of today.”

When I asked how I can set up a mesh network with the AX devices without HWMP and WDS, I did not receive an answer from support.

Unfortunately, I know of no way to set up a dynamic WiFi mesh without WDS and HWMP.

The fact that Mikrotik is releasing new devices without the option of setting up mesh networks is truly unbelievable.
I find it really unprofessional that Mikrotik makes no or hardly any mention of the omission of such essential features in AX devices, see here: https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/spaces/ROS/pages/224559120/WiFi#WiFi-Lostfeatures

Ok, then not implemented yet. On documentation is written hwmp is not supported in the ax driver (not how to do mesh :frowning: ).

The fact that Mikrotik is releasing new devices without the option of setting up mesh networks is truly unbelievable.

I m sure is a tradeoff decision … just wait to release all the new ax series or just go on the market with the basic functionality. mesh is just a very special feature. Mikrotik provide a lot of other features … and is not a huge company, with the advantage that price/performance of hardware is very good.

Just to be sure, with mesh you are referring to a wireless backhaul?

This can be accomplished, it just requires manual setting one of the wireless interfaces of the CAP to station mode, while the other interface is managed through CAPsMAN.

(Still) assuming the wireless backhaul, you don’t have an option to run cables and have a wired backhaul?
