Migrating from x86 to CHR with hyper-v, winbox stuck at logging in

Hi, first of all i’m completely new at ROS so please bear with me, i’m trying to migrate my x86 ROS machine to CHR under hyper-v server 2019.

I set the virtual switch to external, create network adapter and connect it to vswitch

Followed the first time config guide here

https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/First+Time+Configuration
then i was able to ping CHR from the host as seen on the pic,

however when i try to login via winbox, it’s stuck at logging-in,

any idea?

I have tried disabling the unrelated NIC’s and turn off firewall.
Winbox service already running as well

If you’re completely new to this, then why are you using an ancient version of Winbox (3.0rc6) and where/when did you get it?
Something doesn’t quite ring true…

You didn’t mention which version of CHR you’re trying to use either.

Ah solved, it’s asking for newer winbox version lol

yeah i was getting that from local mikrotik website in my country,
didn’t know it’s outdated

Hmm now i’m getting bad password error when trying to restore backup..
I will try getting the same version with my x86..

Well turns out it’s much more diificult than i thought
x86 > CHR diff version = bad password
x86 > CHR same version = bad password
x86 > CHR compact export = only partial config is restored, it seems to stop before it’s finishes
Can anyone confirm whether it’s possible or not to restore from x86 to CHR?

Restore is only valid on the exact same device it was backed up from.
Not even the same device type is valid.
Different device type… forget it.

Configure the new one using the export from the old one as a guide.

Okay thanks.
I’m in process of exporting each config. Guess have to do it manually

But i stumbled into another issue.
I passthrough’ed my quad nic RTL8111g, pretty sure i did it correctly cause it didn’t show any error.
But my CHR VM isn’t detecting them,
tried ROS x86 VM but it’s the same.
Is there any quad nic card that is officially supported by ROS for VM passthrough?
Googled a bit but i can’t find anything.

Pfsense could do this, but i read it has performance issues.
I’d rather not use onboard nic, if it’s broken it means replacing the whole board.
