Migration process from our old phpBB instance to Discourse is now done

Migration process from our old phpBB instance to Discourse is now done.

As mentioned in old forum announcement. Before attempting to log into forum please perform password reset procedure. Old passwords were not imported into new instance.

What was lost with old phpBB forum:

  • Users with 0 posts - Large amount of spam users had accumulated over time.
    • Apologies to all legit users that lost accounts.
  • Existing user passwords.

Feedback on look&feel are welcomed. Our customized theme and other things will be
improved as time goes on. Same goes for any recommendations regarding discourse itself.
As we just started using this software for our community forum management there
are most likely still things that will need tweaking from our side to improve user
experience.

Seems a little slow on my side right now but otherwise excited!

As every modern interface, looks very bad. No pages with dynamic posts loading is the most stupid thing in these interfaces. Very inconvenient to navigate.

Congrats about migration but my eyes bleeding when i see Discourse. This is worst type of forum created ever.

Great job! Hopefully no more this page temp. not available errors.

Update 18:52 UTC+8: still getting HTTP 502 Bad Gateway errors, expected?
Update 18:53 UTC+8: Save Edit returns with 503 Service Unavailable, uhh.

And performance is very slow. I’m tired of this rotating circle when navigating in settings. Every action takes about 10 seconds.
Similar to WinBox 4 vs. WinBox 3…

Thanks for the update. But everything is currently very slow. Already got a few 502 and 503 errors. Let’s hope that it’s not the final expected performance.

Also, the UX is typical for Discourse and is really a downgrade. Lot of wasted screen space, huge fonts and gap.

Migrating to XenForo would have been a wiser choice, IMHO.

Comparing to this Discourse instance, WinBox 4 has perfect performance.

Cheers for the new board, might take a while to get used too!

Yes, but it’s about design either.

Just increased web worker count. We started with rather small amount of web workers for discourse. It might take a bit while we fine tune instance for our typical load.

It has become faster now, thanks.

Personally, not a fan of the interface, but it is what it is. I agree xenforo probably would have been better. I’ve always loved phpBB but i get its probably a bit hard to maintain security on it these days.

Hopefully with some design tweaks/changes it will be come nicer.

It has also become quite snappy for me

Are you gonna “approve” every post before it appears??

Have to get used to the overview page…and find my way around. Congratz on the succesfull migration.

Was hoping it might be something other than Discourse but sadly not.

i know things will likely improve over time but it’s a horrific change IMHO.

As usual with a new interface, it will take some time to get used to it.
We’ll see how it turns out.

It’s not really a “new” interface because Discourse is used on plenty of places over the internet and the UX is “not good” everywhere.

Just noticed, that if I reply to someone’s post, my post sometimes appears as if it was just posted without reply. Is it a bug or what?
