Mode button not working

Hi, the ‘Mode’ button on my Chateau LTE18 ax has stopped working.

I use it to switch my Wi-Fi on / off via a simple script. It’s worked ever since I bought it two years ago, but it’s stopped working over the last two months.

The script works perfectly, but now I have to run it from the script window.

Could it be a hardware problem?

Thanks

permission issue is more likely. see something in log when pressing button?

But I wouldn't rule out a bent or broken switch.

As I see it, there are two kinds of those micro switches, one (the intelligent version) that lies on the PCB, so when you press it, the back is pressed against the PCB and does not flex at all, it is eternal or almost eternal.

Then there is the stupid version (but that of corse needs to be used and is actually used on most products) that is vertical.

When you press it (and is not easy to dose the force necessary to activate it) the pressure you apply is contrasted by the soldered pins and it is very common that these bend a little or that the solder gets loose.

The switch itself (both kinds) may of course break, as the pressing forces also the external case of the switch, but it is less common in my experience.

I would exclude (since almost no current goes through the contacts) oxidation or similar, but spraying a little bit of contact cleaner in the little switch costs nothing or next to noithing, and while you disassemble the device you can check the switch visually and test if it works with a multimeter.

This topic reminded me to check this V7.20.1 [stable] is released! - #73 by optio where I had issue with WPS button, not checked since, could be ROS issue but also HW.

In fact the log says

executing script WiFi_on-off from sys2 failed, please check it manually (not enough permissions)

How can I fix this? I'm not an advanced user :slightly_smiling_face:

So permissions are the problem.

Don't know by heart what it should be, there should be something about script permissions in manual.mikrotik.com.

My caveman approach is to give a script ALL permissions, then remove it one by one until it stops working, then re-add it and pass to the next.

please

/system/script/export
/system/routerboard/mode-button/export

Solved by myself

/system/script> set [find name="script name"] dont-require-permissions=yes

Now i'm a advanced user
