My device got wrong ip address on wifi not from dhcp server range

Hello

On my router my dhcp server range is 192.168.1.1/254, but two devices onkyo tower and iphone 12 did get assigned 192.16.0… ip and i have no idea why. I didnt find any other dhcp server. All other devices(like 5) were assigned the correct ip address. Any idea how to check it and how to repair it? I couldnt find any help(did find some posts but none of them was helpfull) My router is mikrotik hap ac.

see: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/DHCP_Server#Alerts

and eventually: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Interface/Bridge#DHCP_Snooping_and_DHCP_Option_82

Check the DHCP client status tab to find out which device assigned the ip

Sounds like you connected to someone elses AP.

Thank U all. As i found out it was the result of connection tp link repeater wa850re with cable lan to my mikrotik router. After doing that somehow my iphone connected to mikrotik router but got diffrent ip from these repeater :frowning: But i have another problem. No one is able to help me :frowning:

Use a DHCP discovery tool or check the wrong gateway of wrong IP.

Regards.

How to use it? Is there a ubuntu command?

@krafg when im connected to my mikrotik router it shows that my router has 192.168.1.1 but when im connected to tp-link repeater it shows ip of the repeater under 192.168.0.254. I tried to manually set ip of the repeater but it didnt hep :frowning:

Range extender’s users manual expkains how to change RE’s IP address … by default it’s set to static address you’re seeing, but you can either change it to another static address or enable dynamic address acquisition (read: DHCP client).

I tried automaticlly then i got this ip 192.168.0.254, i tried yesterday setup manually to 192.168.1.166 and dhcp server off on repeater.I have lease the same ip on mikrotik. But id didnt do anything also now i cant connect to repeater.

Whatever it is, it’s configuration of range extender which does it. It’s not Mikrotik doing.

The TP-link repeaters do have a DHCP server that is by default set on “auto”. If it sees a DHCP server traffic it will not intervene. If it does not it will act as DHCP server.
However for me the combination of Mikrotik and a TP-link RE450 (different but similar model) was problematic with default setting or with DHCP set to OFF on the RE.
I did not test again with newer RouterOS versions, and it worked well with non-Mikrotik DHCP server but Mikrotik AP. (My home setup)
And I could make it work with the RE DHCP ON, and active with a second pool part of the same subnet.
