need help ubuntu user.....

hi,
right now im using ubuntu for my OS n now the problem is i cant open winbox…!!!
is anyone can explain..??
thx

You can open Winbox using wine.

Dear please post your query at forumDOTlinuxDOTorgDOTbd

As mentioned, this post belongs in the Ubuntu forums.

However, if you are a newbie and setting up wine isnt for you (can be a chore) I can recommend a product called Crossover by Codeweavers.

(this is not a sales plug, I am an ubuntu user and found that this helped me to use mikrotik on ubuntu)…

Thanks, and standing by for the FLAMES…

default settings of wine is very usable if you need to run winbox.

i am using default ubuntu configuration of wine and winbox and dude

I am brand new to Linux and I am running Ubuntu 6.10
Putty and bTest works well.
I can’t download winbox on to any of my pc’s linux nor microsoft. Server is timing out for some reason anyone else having this problem?
This has been going on for a few days. I need winbox so i can strrip my laptop it’s got issues.

You should download winbox from your own router - just enter it’s IP into the browser.

I for got about that, and done it before looking back on site, thanks

@alex_rhys-hurn where i can get Crossover software…???

@mrz where i can find wine…??

open console and type:
sudo apt-get install wine

winbox=Windows Box
Linbox=Linux Box :wink:
can mikrotik man make it..??

tHERE IS NO NEED FOR THAT

winbox works, perfectly on linux, if you don’t know how to use wine on linux, then use windows

mrz said it :wink:

:smiling_imp:

linbox = linux box = winbox +wine

default config of wine works like a charm even better than in its natural inhabitance :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

if it does not then

$ cd ~
$ rm -rf .wine

hello there,
i have similar problem like that
wine works fine with every win program. just if i start winbox or dude application starts and several seconds after freezes and forces to quit.
i am not sure that this is an ubuntu problem. or wine problem. we threated previously that problem into the forum, but nobody help.
regards,
C. G.

Probably ubuntu , they seem far more interested in making it shiny instead of making it work.
