I’m having an issue with one of our towers
I have changed the omni, the LMR cable even the card inside the box but no mater what i try the RX from all clients connecting to that tower will not improve. i have some clients with the RX ccq sitting up at 60% and then we have clients that are at 5% and it doesn’t look to be a distance issue as there are some clients that are at 10 km away and then there are those sitting 100 m away and they either have a good CCQ or a bad one. i just can’t figure it out.
does anyone know what could cause this kind of problem besides the obvious
I upgraded the routerOS to 4.17 last night but that did sweet bugger all, also it is 2.4 Ghz
Did a bit of playing around last night and i think i found the problem, the solution on the other hand is not gonna be as easy. It turns out i’m up noise.
The noise floor jumps to -71 and then back down to -98 and stays there for maybe 1.5 seconds and it jumps back to -71, rinse and repeat.
I have tried adaptive noise immunity on both the connecting clients and the AP but it has not help
i also looked across some of my other towers to some the same issue on a select few, it looks like the noise is confined to an area.
If this is the case i know who it is but we have been fighting with these people to fix there equipment and still nothing.
If only i knew where i put my RPG things would be so much easier
the thing though is we are running with all data rates, our previous network admin never locked the aps down to more stable data rates and i have been a little afraid of playing with the aps with active clients.
tonight though nice and late i’ll be bringing down the data rates to get to some stable ones, lets see how that goes.
i also have to do the same for our back hauls but that one poses a whole different kettle of fish.
Okay.
I have completely done away with all the G rates and left only the 1; 2; and 5.5 on the B rates.
Things look to bea bit more stable even under the noise situation.
Well i went and changed the routerboard in the tower (rb 433) and this seemed to fix the issue
the question i now have is how. I think i have a small idea but i was hoping someone could give me a more detailed info as to why a currupt board could cause this and would i be able to rescue the old board for use elsewhere.
Well it seems my problem is back.
It must have disappeared during the time i was working.
I have changed everything on the tower now, i have the checked the noise but it never goes over -90 now
I am now moving clients off that tower as i currently cannot figure out what is going on, that goodness there are lots of towers to chhose from and only 5 clients connected to that tower
