Netinstall finds no packages

Ok, I’m thoroughly frustrated by this. I tried to do a restore from a different routerboards backup (I know this shouldn’t be done this way now). Anyway, it won’t boot past the “Starting Services”. So, I’m trying to reinstall the OS from NetInstall. I can run the program, set the boot address, go to com port, select ethernet, and it will find the netinstall program and get the right address and it is ready to go. The trouble is is that where I am to select the packages to install, I get nothing. No packages. It sees the all in one file until I click on the mac address of the routerboard, then the all in one goes away and says no packages.

Like an idiot, I deleted the old version I had and am trying to use netinstall 3.1. I did see a 3.2 somewhere in someones documentation, but don’t know where to find that version.

Help. I would like to fix this router.

please use the Netisntall from v3.10, you can download it from the MikroTik downlaod page.

Sorry, when I said I was using 3.1, I meant 3.10. It was the latest version from the download page.

I finally got it to work. Seems that it won’t work with version 3.10 of RouterOS. I went back to 3.9 and it installed just fine.

what board did you tried to install and what firmware version it had?

I figured out the problem. It was my fault all along. I looked at a routerboard in a box that I had. small board with 5 ethernets. I went to the routerboard website and found a picture of it (450 model) and then had downloaded the appropriate version from Mikrotik.

Trouble was that the model I actually have is the 150 model. Didn’t realize that this had changed which routeros to use. When I would click on the router in the top of the netinstall program, it would show me the “compatible” versions in the bottom with checkboxes. Unfortunately, I was trying to put the mipsbe on instead of the mipsle version that it needed.

When I went back to previous version that I had, it was for the correct board and it worked correctly.

I guess I need to get more sleep.
