Cant seem to get NetInstall to work on wine, i run as root, but the RB never shows in netinstall.
i have set static ip on my laptop ether port and made sure its the same range and subnet on netinstall.
Hello, I can confirm than NetInstall runs properly on Ubuntu 16.04 using Wine. Instructions for using NetInstall can be found at https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Netinstall
Be sure to run it as sudo. In my computer I launch it using:
gksu wine /media/Compartida/Red/netinstall.exe
Press reset button and switch on your router, keeping reset button pressed until router is shown on Netinstall app.
I’m using Wine 1.6.2 with Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS, Netinstall for RouterOS v.6.40.1.
I’ve just downloaded Netinstall v.6.42.1 and works OK. Tried with your IP addresses, everything works fine.
Please, check:
All your computer interfaces are disabled, except your wired interface.
Configure wine to work like ‘Windows 8’ (this is the configuration I have).
Cable is connected on ether1.
After enabling ‘Net booting’ with IP address, close the window
Now, power-off your router. Press reset button and keep it pressed. Turn on your router. Wait with reset button pressed… It takes about 30 seconds with RB951
When I read ‘REQ RECEIVED: ENTERING TFTP LOOP’ after than terminal shows ‘port: 43264’ and the router is shown.
So after much playing i have found a working solution. It appears that Ubuntu is doing something strange with my network driver for the onboard ether port. For fun sake i tried a usb ether adapter and its now working fine
Ubuntu 16.04.4
Wine 3.0 cfg to windows 10
Anker Usb Ether adapter set up as connection 2 with static address added.
I have also just test this in a Win 10 VM as well and it works great.
Can you tell us the chipset of the on-board network card or the exact model of the laptop (preferably from a sticker somewhere), please? For the sake of other people in future, or even Mikrotik
